This tough and adventurous trekking takes you from our stables in Canillas de Albaida along the old mule traders trail into the Nature Park. These trails have been used by local traders with their mule caravans since the roman period and are not marked on the official maps, though our local park rangers do have them on their personal ones. The only civilized life we have a chance to meet is the really hardcore wanderers and horse trekkers as these trails are not wide enough for vehicles of any kind. The riding will take us past old ruins of former country inns and they, as well as this area, were a known refuge for infamous bandits up till the end of the 19th century. Though the inns did stay operational up till the middle of the last century, the clientele at the end of this era were a more peaceful kind. In the surrounding towns of Canillas de Albaida, Cmpeta and Archez you’ll still be able to meet old people who remember the unrestrained times in the old inns up in the secluded mountain area. This tour is scheduled all year round.
